
SAN JOSE (KNX) — Six men who allegedly committed multiple robberies targeting Asian females in the Bay Area have been arrested, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Police arrested the following suspects: Anthony Michael Robinson, 24, Cameron Alonzo Moody, 27, Derje Damond Blanks, 23, Hassani Burleson Ramsey, 24, Clarence Jackson, 21, and Malik Short, 21.
The department’s Robbery Unit conducted an investigation on the more than 70 reported robberies, thefts, and burglaries that occurred from Oct.
2020 through Sept. 2021, the press release said.
Police added that Asian females were targeted and many were injured.
In addition to the charges by the District Attorney’s Office, each suspect also received hate crime enhancements.
The department said witnesses and victims assisted officers in identifying the suspects.
“Our Department wants to send a strong message to our AAPI community members: Criminals who wish to target you because of your ethnicity, or your gender, will be met with the tenacity of the finest police officers, detectives, and attorneys in the nation, and this case is a great example of that,” the department said.
