Amazon is gearing up for the holidays by bringing in more employees.
The retail giant announced it will hire 23,000 seasonal workers in California. Starting pay is $18 an hour with sign-on bonuses that go up to $3,000 and an additional $3 per hour depending on the shift, according to a press release.
"Our seasonal hiring helps us deliver on our promises to customers while also providing flexibility to our full-time employees during busy periods," said Alicia Boler Davis, Senior Vice President, Global Customer Fulfillment.
"Joining Amazon in one of our seasonal roles offers high-paying, part-time work, or a path to a full-time position, with benefits like our Career Choice program to help people advance their education and careers within Amazon or beyond."
"Creating opportunities for increased seasonal work is key as California and the nation continue to deal with interruptions in the supply chain," said a spokesperson from CalChamber, a California-based business advocacy group. "Through this effort, Amazon will help get more people back on the job this holiday season. This, along with Amazon's broader investments during the pandemic is important to the California economy."
It comes as Amazon announced it's offering 150,000 season jobs across the U.S.
