Anthony Rendon tries to slap A's fan after opening-night loss

The A’s pulled off a late comeback against the Angels on opening night at the Oakland Coliseum Thursday. Even though Shohei Ohtani struck out 10 over six scoreless innings, the A’s scored two runs in the eighth inning to get a 2-1 win in the season opener.

Angels infielder Anthony Rendon clearly was in a bad mood as he walked off the field, as he grabbed the shirt of A’s fan and had a foul-mouthed exchange.

The Petros and Money Show shared a clip of the altercation on Friday.

Most of the exchange was NSFW, but Rendon accused the fan of calling him a “b*tch”, which the fan denied. It’s also worth noting that Mike Trout and Ohtani walked by and kept moving as the situation unfolded.

At the end of the tense moment, which lasted about 10 seconds, Rendon tried to slap the fan, who tried to pull away from the railing.

It’s a bad-looking scene for Rendon. Even if he got the right guy, his reaction probably wasn’t warranted, considering he’s making $38 million this season as a pro ballplayer, where heckling (even name-calling!) is part of the deal.
