Last week 76-year old Xiao Zhen Xie fought off 39-year old Stephen Jenkins on San Francisco's Market Street and sent the man to the hospital in a stretcher.

A GoFundMe for Xie's recovery set a goal for $50k and quickly became the most popular fundraiser on the site. It has raised nearly $900k in less than five days and now she has instructed her grandson to make sure that all the money raised is donated back to the Asian American community to help combat racism and to help the AAPI community recover.

She also told her grandson that "we must not submit to racism and we must fight to the death if necessary." The family will decide where the donations will be made at a later date.
