Body of beloved CSU Stanislaus professor found in Yosemite; park officials seek help

Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance for answers after the body of a California State University Stanislaus professor was discovered last week at Yosemite National Park.

James Youngblom’s body was found in LeConte Falls last Friday. "He was hiking alone from White Wolf up the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne to the Glen Aulin trailhead," an Instagram post from park officials said.

Youngblom was the chair of the Department of Biological Services at CSU Stanislaus.

He taught at the school for almost 31 years.

School officials told the San Francisco Chronicle that Youngblom "was a beloved faculty member and department chair of the Department of Biological Services." The school’s dean of the College of Science called the 64-year-old "one of the kindest people I’ve even known."

He’s described as 5-foot-8, 160 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who believes they saw Youngblom hiking between June 22-25 is asked to call 888-653-0009 or submit tips online.
