COLTON, Calif. (KNX) – A California woman got more than she bargained for when she inquired about a sofa set she found on Craigslist.

Vicky Umodo, of Colton, told KABC she bought two sofas and a matching chair that a family gave away for free. The family told Umodo the furniture belonged to a loved one of theirs who died and the family was “liquidating everything on the property.”
When Umodo took the furniture home, she noticed something inside one of the cushions. She unzipped the cushion where she founds multiples envelopes with cash in it.
It was $36,000 in cash, to be exact.
"I was just telling my son, come, come, come! I was screaming, this is money! I need to call the guy,” Umodo recalled to the news station.
Umodo gave the money back to the family, who told her they too found cash hidden in the rest of the house. But Umodo didn’t leave empty handed.
She said the family gave her $2,200 so that she can buy a new refrigerator.
