LA County's DA-elect George Gascón promises to make major changes when he takes office.

Gascón vows to immediately end the use of the death penalty and seek to resentence those already on death row, stop prosecuting minors as adults and to set a county-wide deadly use of force standard for police that's in line with a state law that says it's justified only when "necessary," not just "reasonable."

"When I entered this race this movement for reform in this campaign was considered by many to be a lone shot in the largest county in the nation against a two term incumbent DA. We are here, we did it and I stand before you committed to making lasting changes that will make our communities safer, healthier, that will restore the promise of equal justice for all," he says.

Gascón tells Lacey supporters that he will work "incredibly hard" to earn their trust and their respect.

"To Miss Lacey, I want to applaud you for your decades of service to Los Angeles," he says.

Gascón insists that the outcome of this race shows that people were "unhappy" with the status quo but it's time to move away from political rhetoric and work together to improve public safety.
