The California Democratic Party has filed a complaint with the Fair Political Practices Commission against GOP recall election candidate Larry Elder.

The complaint to the FPPC cited the failure of Elder to disclose personal and business financial information.

It followed a recent in-depth investigation by the Los Angeles Times into Elder’s tax disclosures, introducing the possibility of some discrepancies, including complaints the courts previously tossed out.

Even though the courts have ruled that financial disclosure laws that apply to regular elections do not necessarily apply to the recall, the Democratic Party hopes that these complaints are enough to knock Elder off the ballot, former Political Consultant Leo Mcelroy said.

The party demanded Larry Elder disclose all of his sources of income after Elder allegedly promoted “suspicious and harmful products,” including a tobacco conglomerate that sought to use tobacco for treatment of COVID-19.

However, Mcelroy expects Elder will remain on the ballot.

Larry Elder is currently leading in GOP recall candidate polls and in fundraising.
