FREMONT, Calif. — A Tesla employee died at the Fremont plant on Wednesday morning, according to a statement Tesla provided to KCBS Radio.
The employee, a production associate, collapsed while in the middle of working on a powertrain line, which is an "improved motor inverter and gearbox," according to the company's website.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, better known as Cal/OSHA, is now investigating the death and how it may have been work-related.
The worker's name has not yet been disclosed.
The incident comes just over a month after an employee was shot and killed by another employee in the same Tesla factory’s parking lot. Police have not disclosed if the person killed was an employee of the company.
The Fremont Police Department and Cal/OSHA did not respond to KCBS Radio's request for comment at the time of publication.
