'Full House' home in San Francisco sold for $6M

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Everywhere you look… there’s a home in San Francisco selling for a lot of money. Well, at least one home, a pretty famous one on Broderick Street that was broadcast into U.S. homes for nearly a decade.

According to Zillow, an iconic home featured on the sitcom “Full House” sold Monday for $6 million dollars. While much of the show was filmed in Los Angeles-area studios, establishing shots of the “full” house were of 1709 Broderick Street.

An opening sequence that includes shots of the cast (Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, John Stamos, Candance Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen) playing in a park indicates that the home is in the Alamo Square neighborhood of San Francisco, that actually isn’t the case. SFGATE noted that it is about a mile up the road and a block away from the Lower Pacific Heights retail strip near Divisadero Street.

“Full House” originally aired from 1987 to 1995, but the show also airs in syndication and is available on the Netflix streaming platform – its “Fuller House” sequel show ran for five seasons starting in 2016. The original show followed the life of Danny Tanner (Saget), a widower who raises his daughters D.J. (Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Sweetin) and Michelle (the Olsen twins) with the help of his best friend Joey Gladstone (Coulier) and his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis (Stamos).

Per its Zillow listing, the “Full House” is more than 3,000 square feet, with four beds and four bathrooms. It is a Victorian style home, initially crafted in 1883 by architect Charles Lewis Hinkel, and “impeccably reimagined in 2019 by world-renowned architect Richard Landry.”

Nearby residents told KCBS Radio that the new owners should expect a lot of visitors. Around 100 “Full House” fans make pilgrimages to the Tanner residence every weekend, one said. However, they shouldn’t be too worried – the neighbor said that the fans are really nice and that they sometimes enjoy a glass of wine with people in the neighborhood.
