The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will receive a $10.5 million grant to help the Santa Anita Debris Dam in Arcadia.

The grant comes from the California Department of Water Resources. Mark Pestrella, director at L.A. County, told KNX News the money will help with projects to offset times of too much or too little rain.

“By investing in this project with the state of California is the ability to take more water when it's available and move it into the ground for times of use during drought, and that type of a project is exactly what the state of California wants to be investing in,” he said.

Pestrella added it would help the county not to have to rely on northern California as much during times of drought.
