SAN DIEGO (KNX) – The man who stabbed a San Diego police dog in January was arrested again for stabbing yet another police dog on Friday, the San Diego Police Department said.

On the morning of Dec. 17, officers responded to a vandalism call on Riley Street where they saw 35-year-old Dedrick Jones swinging a knife.

Officers said Jones climbed onto a parked car and that when he came down, officers deployed “less-lethal tools” to avoid using deadly force, according to a post by the department on Facebook.

When Canine Hondo was deployed by officer, Jones stabbed the dog at least twice before officers were able to arrest him. Jones was arrested for animal cruelty, harming a police dog and assault with a deadly weapon among other charges.

Canine Hondo was taken to a local veterinary hospital where officers said he will continue to receive care. He is expected to survive.

In January, Jones stabbed a police dog named Canine Titan after a standoff with police. The dog survived after receiving stitches and surgery to have part of his colon removed.

Jones pled guilty to animal cruelty and assault on a peace officer. Despite being sentenced to one year in jail, officers said he was released in June “on jail credits for time served.”

He was on probation at the time of the second attack.
