Anthony Gray, 52, was arrested in connection to the stabbing death of 15-year-old Alicia Reynaga, authorities said. Gray was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for murder.

“Detectives believe this appears to be a random act and they are trying to determine why this student was targeted,” the department said.
The department said they responded to Stagg High School just after 11 a.m. after it was reported a student was stabbed. School officials confirmed at a press conference that she died at the hospital.
A vigil was held for Reynaga Monday evening outside the school, where her family urged attendees to remember her as “a good person
Vincent Enriquez, the travel softball coach, told CBS Sacramento she was “a raw athlete” with an amazing catch.
“Everybody here, we loved this girl more than anyone in the world,” he said.
The outlet spoke to a student who said the gates at the school were often open and there was little security.
“Very rare there are officers there at all. Very rare,” the student told the station. “I don’t want to lose any more people like that. That shouldn’t have happened today.”
