Sacramento man hit and killed by car was trying to steal catalytic converter, police say

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KNX) – A man trying to steal a catalytic converter was hit and killed by a car Monday morning in Sacramento.

Officers responded to a collision near Methodist Hospital on Timberlake Way around 4:45 a.m., according to CBS Sacramento.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Jose Adolfo Rangel, was taken to a hospital where he died, police said.

It was later revealed Rangel was trying to steal a catalytic converter at the time the car hit him

Police said the investigation is still active.
