SANTA ANA, Calif. (KNX) – Make-A-Wish in Orange County is seeking donations in the form of unused airline miles or points.

On Monday, Make-A-Wish® Orange County and the Inland Empire partnered with John Wayne Airport to launch “Trips That Transform”, a month-long campaign that aims to help grant travel wishes to children who are battling critical illnesses.
The goal is to garner unused miles or points from American, United, Delta and Jet Blue airlines.
Marc Sawyer, the Chief Development Officer at Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire, told KNX News there are almost 540 children in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties hoping to have their wishes fulfilled.
He said 75% of the wishes are travel-related.
“…Our most popular travel wish, for example, was not surprisingly was Hawaii, and Hawaii costs about 80,000 airline miles to fly a family of four out there from our area.” he said.
Sawyer noted that donating airline miles and points to Make-A-Wish comes with an added bonus. “One of the wonderful things about Make-A-Wish is once when you donate those miles to Make-A-Wish, they never expire.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire to help grant more travel wishes,” Charlene Reynolds, Airport Director at John Wayne Airport said.
“We encourage all who travel through John Wayne Airport to join us by donating their unused, low-balance or soon-to-expire miles to help wish kids take flight.”
Travelers can donate airline miles and points at ocair.com/wish.
