A judge sentenced 45-year-old Ahmed Binyamin Alasiri, who also goes by Kevin Lamar James, to an additional 24 months in federal prison, which will “run concurrently” with the 188-month sentencing.

Officials said one year after Alasiri finished a 16-year prison sentence for a 2009 terrorism conviction, he sold meth on three occasions between July to August 2020.

The total weight of meth he sold was 3.8 pounds, officials said.

“[Alasiri] was industrious and obtained legitimate full-time employment, yet he did not hesitate to traffic in drugs to earn income,” prosecutors said.

“He valued his personal short-term goals over respect for the law, the societal and individual damage caused by narcotics, and the risk of arrest for drug trafficking.”
