Suspected arsonist detained after 10 fires in Northern California

SAN FRANCISCO (KNX) — A suspected arsonist has been detained in the South Bay after 10 fires were found in the Los Altos Hills.

At 1:13 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters from the Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to reports of a vegetation fire near Josefa Lane.

Fire officials found 10 separate fires burning across the area at the scene and launched an "aggressive fire attack."

The fire was controlled at 2:28 p.m. after burning 1.5 acres.

Around a dozen homes are located on Josefa Lane, and a few were briefly evacuated. There were no reported injuries or structure damage, the department reported. Josefa Lane was reopened later that afternoon.

Fire officials said they will continue investigating the case, but there is no ongoing threat. No further information was released about the suspect.
