ANAHEIM (CNS) - Police believe two suspects who were killed in a single-vehicle crash today were fleeing the scene of a non-fatal shooting in Anaheim.

The crash happened shortly after a 12:10 a.m. call to police about shots being fired at a restaurant at 1729 W. La Palma Ave., said Anaheim police Sgt. Steve Pena.

The two suspects, believed to be men in their 30s, were traveling at a high rate of speed away from the shooting when their SUV ran a red light at Brookhurst Street and La Palma Avenue, striking a traffic signal pole on the northwest corner, said Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer.

Investigators believe one of the men killed was the initial shooter, who fired shots -- striking no one -- after being previously denied entry into the venue on more than one occasion, Carringer said.

Another man at the scene was briefly detained, but was not arrested.
