What are some of the every-day items that represent 2021?
That's the question Riverside is asking: it's encouraging residents to contribute items that will go into a brand new time capsule.
Director of the Riverside Public Library Erin Christmas says "We are thinking photographs. We are thinking if you are part of a community group, maybe an agenda to one of your meetings or meeting minutes - something like that. And then we are also encouraging 3D objects. I'm thinking what better for 2021 than a mask right? To commemorate all of us wearing masks this year."
There's limit to how big the items can be. City officials are asking products to be no more than two inches wide or long for the capsule.
Once the items are carefully selected, they will be put into a time capsule and buried in front of the new Main Library in the City of Riverside.
The deadline to submit your choice of item to represent 2021 is April 30.
The time capsule will be opened 50 years from now.
Drop off times are Tuesday and Thursdays 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at any of the city library locations. For a list of locations: www.riversideca.gov/library
