An investigative report by CBS Sacramento has revealed major problems at the state's new COVID-19 testing lab set up in Valencia at a cost of $25 million.
More than half a dozen whistleblowers allege that some lab technicians slept while tests were processed and test swabs were found in restrooms.
One whistleblower tells CBS Sacramento that staff is inadequately trained in preventing contamination of tests.
“That lab should be shut down because they’re jeopardizing people’s lives,” one staff member told KNX.
Now, the state has said there are problems at the lab with test results.
Dr. Mark Ghaly, California Health Secretary blames inconclusive tests on problems that have now been corrected. One claim is that thousands of tests were inconclusive.
