Fans of “The Blacklist” are in for a shocking season finale.

Megan Boone will be exiting the NBC series after 8 seasons, Variety confirmed.

Boone, who has played FBI profiler Elizabeth Keen since the show’s launch in 2013, will make her final appearance as a series regular during the upcoming season 8 finale, according to Deadline.

Apparently, the decision to end her character’s story arc was decided prior to the show’s 9th season renewal in January, the outlet noted.

Boone has been the female lead opposite James Spader for 170 episodes. Upon her exit, it will leave Spader, Harry Lennix, and Diego Klattenhoff as the show’s only remaining original stars.

Over the course of 8 seasons, Boone’s character has transformed from a rookie FBI agent to a fugitive on the run. The 38-year-old actress didn’t appear for eight episodes this season, which led to much speculation as to the future of her character.

The final two episodes of the season are entitled "Nachalo" and "Konets,” which are Russian for "Beginning" and "End,” noted Entertainment Weekly.

While neither NBC nor Boone have officially commented on her exit, the actress did share some photos after wrapping season 8 earlier this month.

“Season 8 wrap, hugging @harrylennix,” she captioned the slideshow.

While the show’s official Instagram account shared a photo of Boone to tease the penultimate episode of the season: “#TheBlacklist is going to keep you waiting just a little longer. Wednesday, June 16 on @NBC, it's all happening.”

The season 8 finale of “The Blacklist” airs Wednesday, June 23rd at 8pm on NBC.
