DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Air France has started non-stop flights from DFW Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The first flight arrived at DFW Sunday.
"The American market is of prime importance for the Air France-KLM group, which alongside its transatlantic joint venture partners, operates more than 270 daily flights between Europe and North America," Air France Chief Executive Anne Rigail wrote in a statement. "On flights to Dallas-Fort Worth, we are offering our customers a new travel experience on board our fully renovated Airbus A330s equipped with Wi-Fi, throughout the summer season."
Air France has become the 13th carrier running international flights at DFW. The airport says those 13 carriers serve 62 international destinations. DFW says airlines serve another 187 destinations within the United States, and a total of 69 million people pass through the airport each year.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price led a trade mission to France last year. In February, Fort Worth signed an agreement with Nimes, France as its ninth sister city.
Air France will run five flights between DFW and Paris weekly.
DFW Airport says service to Europe has nearly doubled in the past five years, from nine daily flights to 17.
This summer, DFW says airlines will also begin service to Dublin, Ireland and Munich, Germany.
