ALLEN (1080 KRLD) - It's been a month since Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen took a beating from severe weather, and officials say they're not ready for any more damage.
There's a temporary roof up, but pastor Caleb Beets says it's only about half the thickness of a regular roof.
"Really it's not designed at all to withstand any kind of hail damage," he says. "Obviously I don't know yet exactly how bad it could be, but any hail would not be a good thing for sure."
Cottonwood Creek has had to move or suspend some of their church programs because they don't have space in their building for them right now. Beets says on top of that, any damage today would create a mess insurance wise.
"We'd have to open a brand new claim on top of the other one we have open, and try to differentiate which storm created what damage," he says.
Beets says the congregation has been very understanding of the disruptions, volunteering where they can and being flexible with changes to programs.
In anticipation of today's weather Cottonwood Creek Church has cancelled what evening programs they have, and they have a water cleanup and restoration company on standby.
