ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Arlington Police are investigating after an officer was shot during a traffic stop Friday evening.

It started as a routine stop shortly after 10 p.m. in a shopping center near Randol Mill and Fielder streets.

Officers say a male passenger fled on foot after being asked to step out of the car. As they chased him, the suspect turned around and started shooting at them, wounding one officer.

The suspect was shot, and pronounced dead at a hospital. Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson paid a visit to the wounded officer, tweeting that they are receiving excellent care.
