FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Senator Bernie Sanders stops in North Texas today to raise awareness and funds for his presidential campaign.
Sanders is now one of 20 Democratic candidates vying for the Oval Office in 2020. He also stopped in Houston yesterday to hold a rally. Sanders told supporters there that his campaign will inspire voters to think big and work together to face the country’s obstacles.
Sanders also spoke about healthcare, economic and social justice reform.
With his visit to Fort Worth, Sanders may be hoping to capitalize on recent gains there made by the Democratic Party. Tarrant County is a historically red area, but it saw some change last year during the Senate race between Congressman Beto O’Rourke and Senator Ted Cruz. O’Rourke overtook Cruz in Tarrant County by almost 4,000 votes.
Sanders’ rally is at noon today at Burnett Park on West 7th Street in Fort Worth. It is free and open to the public.
