DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas will open its own medical clinics in Texas next year.
Officials say four clinics will be in the Dallas area with another six in the Houston area.
The clinics will offer service to Blue Cross and Blue Shield members, Medicare patients and people willing to self-pay. Blue Cross and Blue Shield is partnering with a company called Sanitas USA to operate the clinics. They will offer primary care, urgent care, lab tests and imaging services.
"We believe that this partnership will advance primary care services and is an effective approach to providing quality health care outcomes, improving member engagement and experience, and lowering costs for our members," said Dan McCoy, M.D., president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
The clinics in the Dallas area will be in Las Colinas, Irving, Mesquite and Richardson. The Houston-area locations will be in Bellaire, Katy, Spring, northwest Houston, southeast Houston and west Houston. Construction is scheduled to begin this spring and the clinics will be open for appointments on January 1st of 2020.
