DALLAS (KRLD) - Talk about whether there will be a citizenship question on the 2020 has prompted fears among some. It's believed undocumented migrants may refuse to talk to census takers out of fear of deportation.

Pricisilla Comancho with the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce encourages everyone to participate.

"Whether you are the everyday Joe or a community leader, everyone has to be engaged. We need to show that we are here and that we need to be counted."

She knows there are legal challenges to that question but "everyone needs to be counted, whether they are documented or undocumented."

She says her group uses the census to lure businesses to the Metroplex.

"We look at the population projection, the degree attainment information.  All of that is massively important to business leaders are they're making those critical decisions about whether or not they relocate or expand."

She says a census undercount does a disservice to the companies thinking of moving here. And adds Texas needs every federal dollar allotted, undercounting will only harm our state.

"Transportation funding is a great example. We don't get a  100 percent return of every dollar we send. We are the only donor state left in the US. That's a major problem when you think of how many thousands of people are moving to Texas every day."
