DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Any ticket sold for Wednesday night's $750 million Powerball lottery drawing potentially could be the jackpot winner. Of course, the odds of any individual ticket winning it all are 1-in-292,201,338. It's the longest of long shots, but as they say, it only takes one ticket.

Now consider the millions of tickets being snapped up by Powerball players nationwide today. You would think it's a slam-dunk that someone is going to win that $750 million tonight, right? Not exactly. According to Texas Lottery Commission Executive Director Gary Grief, the odds are against having a jackpot winner in tonight's drawing.

"We anticipate only having about 25 percent of the possible number combinations covered tonight, which means there's about a 75 percent chance there won't be a winner," he said.

Here's another storyline to watch as we get ready for tonight's drawing. Texas is overdue for a Powerball winner. Grief said, "We've been having a run of bad luck here in Texas as far as winners. I've seen our friends in New York and in California have some winners over the last two or three years. I'm counting on someone from Texas tonight winning $750 million in the Powerball drawing."

Texas has not had a Powerball jackpot winner since February 2015, when the big ticket was sold at the Appletree Food Mart in Princeton.

Tickets for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing are available until 9 p.m.
