KELLER (1080 KRLD) - Keller Mayor Pro Tem Ed Speakmon passed away on Sunday.
Long before Speakmon was elected to the Keller City Council in 2016, he was known to so many in the community as "Mr. Christmas," for the award-winning holiday decorations he put up at his home each year.
In mourning the loss of his friend and fellow councilmember, Keller Mayor Pat McGrail said, "Of all my many years of involvement in this city, I never met a person who cared more about Keller or its citizens than Ed. He was a great man who will truly be missed."
According to a release from the City of Keller, Speakmon was not planning to seek re-election in May, but was looking forward to serving the community in other ways.
Mayor Pro Tem Speakmon will be honored with a moment of silence at Tuesday night's Keller City Council meeting at Town Hall. Members of the community are also invited to share their thoughts, memories and best wishes with Speakmon's family at a memorial display in the lobby of Keller Town Hall. The display will be available starting Tuesday afternoon.
