PLANO (1080 KRLD) - One of the most popular hangouts of the 1980s has closed its doors for the last time.

The Collin Creek Mall officially shut down at noon today. Some people came to take one last walk through the halls this morning.

One woman brought her daughter, who's home from college.

“I was telling her, I spent so much time here before you were even born” she said.

Her daughter says she has memories, too. This is where she got her Homecoming dress.

Developers are planning to start demolition in the next month for a billion dollar project. It'll include shops, a hotel and 2,300 apartments.

Construction will take about six years.
