DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The recent spike in violent crime has Dallas police working to find the criminals, and looking for ways to curb the violence.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall is under mounting pressure to do something about the increase in violent crime.

There have been more than 90 murders so far this year, including  the killings of two teenagers this week along.

The Dallas Police Department is hosting a community safety meeting tonight at the MLK Rec Center to update people on what the department is doing and to hear suggestions about how to end the violence.

Chief Hall tells KRLD the police can't do it  alone .

"We believe this is an issue for the entire community of Dallas so we're bringing together our faith leaders, community leaders, our community organizers ...business owners and  Chamber of Commerce, everyone who wants to have a role in it, we're looking for their assistance" says Hall.

She says the department is actively recruiting new officers, admitting the city  needs more officers but for now she says Dallas police are working with state and federal agencies to help solve these crimes and prevent future violence.
