DALLAS (KRLD) - Dallas Police are investigating how a North Texas TV station got the 911 call made by Amber Guyger the night she fatally shot Botham Jean in his own apartment.

The station aired the entire 911 call Monday night as former officer Guyger called police claiming she had shot Jean and went into the wrong apartment.

KRLD legal analyst Ed Klein says the tape seems to back up what Guyger told police the night of the shooting.

"She does say many, many times, she thought it was her apartment, she thought she was on her floor, she was trying to help the guy stay alive," Klein says.

He says her defense did, however, want to air the tape first at trial, and now, it's out in the public.

Dallas defense attorney George Milner, who is not involved with the case, says some parts of the recording might not be helpful in Guyger's case.

"The statement indicating that she was worried about losing her job; certainly the prosecution would state that is some consciousness of wrongdoing," he says.

Police officials say they did not authorize the official release of the 911 call and are conducting an internal affairs investigation to see if the leak came from their department.
