DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Police say the man who carjacked a woman and ran into a garage Wednesday afternoon was holding another woman against her will at a motel.
Dallas Police got a 911 call about a woman being held at a motel near 635 and Forest Lane at 4:20 Wednesday afternoon.
When officers arrived, police say a man jumped from a window and ran off. Officers ran after the suspect. They say he was wearing body armor and was carrying a gun.
Police say the suspect threatened to shoot himself and ran into a wooded area. When he came out, police say he carjacked a woman, pointing the gun at her.
The man crashed into a light pole, got out of the car and ran away. Police say he ran into the open garage of a house on Jackson Creek Drive, about a mile from the motel.
Police say the man then went into the house, and the homeowner confronted him with a gun. The homeowner did not fire, but officers surrounded the house.
When the man came outside, police say he was carrying a knife. Officers ordered him to drop the knife. Police say he refused, and officers shot the man.
The suspect is 26 years old. Police say officers administered first aid while they waited for an ambulance. He went through surgery Wednesday night.
