DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A dangerous intersection at the "G streets" in east Dallas is soon going to get a makeover.
The city council voted to allow a TxDot project to move forward.
Residents have long complained about the bottleneck at the intersection where Gaston and Grand avenues meet Garland Road.
TxDot began gathering public input on the re-design in 2016 and says their final reverse T plan was based on residents feedback.
But councilman Phillip Kingston says many residents believe TxDot has ignored complaints about the reconstruction of the dangerous intersection.
"They literally don't care how many people die on Gaston after this thing gets re-designed. They didn't consider it even a bit," Kingston says.
But councilman Mark Clayton says TxDot has listened to the majority who showed up to meetings, and says the project is long overdue.
"You can't eliminate 65,000 people from trying to get around the lake, because people visually see something and despite what the data says, still don't like it."
The project has a price tag of around $9 million dollars.
