DENTON (1080 KRLD) - The search for a two year old who disappeared from his family's home in Denton ended when a neighbor found the boy's body in his car Wednesday morning.

Sarbesh Gurung had disappeared after his mother said she laid him down for his nap Tuesday afternoon.

More than 300 police, firefighters and members of the community joined a search for Gurung Monday afternoon and evening.

Wednesday morning, a neighbor who lived inside the search perimeter, found Gurung's body in his car.

"We stand here this morning heartbroken," says Denton Police Chief Frank Dixon. "I can tell you at this time there are no signs of trauma."

Dixon says police are still investigating how Gurung might have left the apartment without his mother noticing and how he got into the car, but no one is likely to face charges.

"This is not a time to point fingers. This is not a time to assign blame," he says. "It's a time for us, collectively, to come together, grieve together and heal together."

Dixon says departments from as far away as the Texas coast and Amarillo offered help during the search.

One woman says she came from Frisco even though she doesn't know the family.

"It's very hard. I thought if there's something I can do for this family, I'll be very glad to help in whatever way I can," she says.

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy and confirm a cause of death.

"From our newest officer to our 35, 40 year veteran, this doesn't miss touching anyone. We're all human, but I can't speak enough to the support from the community," Dixon says.
