DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Tim Croy describes himself as a "workout-aholic." He took only 17 minutes to climb the 45 floors of Ross Tower in Downtown Dallas last Saturday.
Tim is a double lung transplant survivor.
Croy, his wife, Shellie, and more than 300 other climbers ascended the 888 steps of Ross Tower in the Fight For Air Climb, put on by the American Lung Association.
"It's very rewarding once you get to the top," Tim said. "You just feel so accomplished."
But Tim Croy doesn't just climb for himself.
"I climb in honor of my late sister Valerie, who passed away from cystic fibrosis in 1992 at the young age of 22. Suffering from the same disease as me, one of the last things she made me promise was to get a lung transplant if I ever made the list. So I honored her request in 2001 and received a life-saving double lung transplant," said Tim.
The event raised $72,000 to fund lung cancer research and critical local programs to help people who suffer from lung disease. The Croy's team of 19 was the top fundraising group, accounting for more than $7,000.
