MANSFIELD (1080 KRLD) - Whoa baby! No one's sure what's in the water in Mansfield, where 6 sets of twins were born within days of each other.

Five of those sets of twins are being taken care of in the neonatal intensive care unit.

It's the first time they've had that many sets of twins at the same time, according to Jordyn Gary, NICU Manager at Methodist Mansfield.

"We may get one or two sets of twins but 5 is definitely a record for us!" she said. When she was asked what's in the water in Mansfield she said, "We're not sure! We're asking the same question!"

As a longtime NICU nurse, she says twins have a special bond. "They're used to being next to each for 40 weeks. Much like they calm down when they get on mom, they do the same thing when they're together, for the most part," Gary said.

Twins and multiples have been known to develop their own 'language' that only they understand. This is known as cryptophasia or idioglossia.

Gary says many of twins are going home this week.
