
FARMERS BRANCH (1080 KRLD) - A Dallas County grand jury has indicted a Farmers Branch police officer for murder."Officer (Michael) Dunn surrendered himself Wednesday night to Dallas County authorities on a murder warrant stemming from the grand jury inquiry," says Farmers Branch Police Chief David Hale.Ofc. Dunn, 43, is free on $150,000 bond.The indictment stems from the June 12th fatal shooting of Juan Moreno Jr., 35, in a northwest Dallas parking lot.Investigators say police were trying to confront Moreno as he was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that had been reported stolen.Video from the scene shows Moreno driving in Dunn's direction; and as he was, Dunn fired at the truck, killing Moreno.The department's internal affairs investigation is still ongoing."We all want a clearer perspective on the details of what happened on that evening," says Chief Hale. "We want the truth."There is no timetable for the internal affairs investigation's completion."The Farmers Branch Police Department's internal investigation into the officer's conduct is ongoing and will conclude as soon as feasible after all the information from the independent investigation conducted by the Dallas Police Department has been received," Chief Hale says.Dunn has been with the department for almost 13 years.
