Billy Bob's Concerts

It's been a long time coming, but concerts are finally back at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth. This weekend there are a full slate of performances. On Friday night, Tracy Byrd takes the stage, on Saturday it's Casey Donahew, then Sunday Chad Prather does his thing. Billy Bob's reminds you to arrive early, as COVID-19 protocols mean it will take longer than normal to get into the venue.

Dallas Arboretum

The amazingly beautiful Dallas Arboretum is one of the most popular attractions during this time where it seems best to be outdoors. You must reserve your tickets ahead of time in a 4 hour time slot. The Dallas Arboretum is featuring the sculptures of Seward Johnson. The works are titled "Celebrating the Familiar." Also, for a limited time, during the month of July, guests are invited to Twilight Thursdays. These extended-hours time slots will go until 8pm on Thursdays and allow you to enjoy the gardens during the beautiful twilight hours. Tickets must be reserved in advance.

Globe Life Field First Tours

You can't attend Rangers games (yet)...but you can still be one of the first to see the new Globe Life Field. The Rangers have small group tours of their new air-conditioned home available every day. You must grab your tickets online in advance, and reserve a specific time to take a look at the new park.

Last Ditch Drive-In Concert Series: The Hope Trust

The pandemic has been extremely tough of the brewery business. Armadillo Brewing Company is getting creative with their concert series. They're calling it a last ditch effort to stay in business while waiting to get the go ahead that it's safe to reopen. So this concert with The Hope Trust is being held drive-in style. There will be food (from Boca 31) and drinks for purchase. You'll also need to purchase a spot to park your vehicle. No alcoholic beverages are allowed inside of vehicles. But you can sit in your lawn chair and enjoy yourself.

Mesquite Championship Rodeo: Scout Night

The Mesquite Championship Rodeo is a 50 year tradition. The PRCA rodeo features bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping and more. You can even grab a barbecue dinner on site. Please wear your facemask, and reserve your seat ahead of time because they'll only allow 25% capacity.

Nelly at Lava Cantina

Nelly is celebrating 20 years of his debut studio album, Country Grammar, with this limited admission show at Lava Cantina. The show will also be available on a live stream. The Grammy award winning rapper, songwriter and recording artist is best known for his hits like "Hot in Herre," "Air Force Ones," and "#1."

Standup Paddleboard Tour at Sunset

The Stockyards Championship Rodeo

Grab your boots and Cowboy hat! This rodeo is back! The alive and kicking rodeo is every Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. (Friday...it's "Free Kid Friday"...buy an adult ticket and get a kid's ticket free!) It's in the Cowtown Coliseum. Rodeo organizers say you can feel safe as you watch the live rodeo action because they are enforcing social distancing and everyone has to wear a facial covering. Giddy up!

Sunday Funday FW

This family-friendly laid back event is every Sunday in August...with yoga, beer concessions, food trucks, and floating the Trinity River. Tubes, pedal boats, kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards are available to rent.

A Tribute to the King: Taylor Rodriguez

Virtual ArtROCKS! Celebrating Artist Natasha Bowdoin

ArtROCKS! Is an educational arts initiative for kids K-12, organized by NorthPark Center. They introduce influential artists (this month it's Natasha Bowdoin) through original art projects. Bowdoin's Garden Plot is on view at NorthPark Center...her work often references nature. She also uses text from poems and books. So, the local artist group Pop Flowery will teach you how to create hand-painted paper flowers. Plus, the Dallas Public Library will lead a book reading and poetry craft.

Wide Open Improv: Improv in the Park(ing) Lot!

Drop in to this weekly in-person, socially distanced, improv class. It's all in the parking lot outside Stomping Ground Comedy Theater. The course, taught by Greg Mihalik, will focus on:

-Connecting & playing from a distance

-Spontaneity, justifications, characters, emotions

-Creating *new* formats for socially distanced improv

-Using the architecture & environment of outdoor improv

-Incorporating social distancing into rehearsals and performances

Masks are required and please register ahead of time.
