DAYTON, OHIO - (KRLD) Ohio police say an "active shooting incident" is responsible for injuring at least 16 people in downtown Dayton.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Dayton Police Department tweeted: "We are investigating an active shooter incident in the #OregonDistrict. Please avoid the area."
Hospital officials were not able to provide the extent of injuries, ages or genders of the 16 people treated so far, and police have not yet confirmed the total number of victims.
The shooting comes just hours after 21-year-old Patrick Crusius of Allen, opened fire in an El Paso Walmart, killing 20 people.
