ROCKWALL (1080 KRLD) - Former Representative Ralph Hall, the oldest person to serve in the U.S. House, has died. He was 95.
From Rockwall, he was a North Texas icon and, for a while, the oldest member of congress.
Hall was first elected to Congress as a Democrat in 1980, replacing Ray Roberts. He became a Republican 14-years later with the backing of his long-time friend George W. Bush.
Hall became the oldest member of Congress in 2012 when he passed North Carolina Representative Charles Stedman. Hall was defeated by current Congressman John Ratcliffe in 2014 leaving office at age 91.
As a cub reporter from Houston former Senator, now US NATO Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchison covered Hall in the state house.
