FRISCO (1080 KRLD) - UPDATED 5:11 P.M.: From DPS: At approximately 2:15 p.m. today, a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle on the Dallas North Tollway near Spring Creek for a traffic violation.
For a reason that has yet to be determined, the driver elected to evade the Trooper and continued driving north to the 6800 block of Lebanon Road before stopping in an apartment complex parking lot.
At some point after the vehicle stopped, the Trooper was shot by a single suspect. The Trooper was transported by Frisco Police to an area hospital for treatment.
The suspect is believed to still be in the area. DPS is working with local agencies at the incident scene. No additional information is currently available. Updates will be released as information becomes available.
Police have shut down Eastbound Lebanon near the Dallas North Tollway as police have surrounded the suspect in an apartment complex.
Police do not believe anyone has been hit by the gunfire.
Residents of at least one apartment complex in the area have been told to shelter in place.
