DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Humane Society of North Texas is asking for help to cover the cost of caring for more than a dozen dogs that were surrendered by a woman in Valley View.

The organization worked with the Cooke County Sheriff's Office and the owner, who did not have the means to care for the animals.

The dogs were taken to a quarantine facility where they were diagnosed with mange, fleas and intestinal worms. They are currently being treated for those conditions.

The Humane Society of North Texas is asking for donations to help with the cost of bedding, food and medical care. They have set up a donation link on their web site at www.hsnt.org.

Several of the female dogs are pregnant.

The Humane Society says all of the animals will need foster homes when their treatment is complete and will eventually be available for adoption.
