DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - This Saturday night in Austin, Kamie Ethridge will again make history.

Ethridge, who led the 1985-86 University of Texas women's basketball team to a national championship, will become the first female student-athlete to have her jersey retired by the school.

UT will retire Ethridge's No. 33 at halftime of Saturday night's Texas-LSU football game at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.

Ethridge, a two-time All-American at UT, was the 1986 National Player of the Year.  That Texas team finished 34-0, becoming the first to record an undefeated season in women's college basketball.

Ethridge, currently the women's head coach at Washington State University, is still the Longhorns' all-time career leader in assists.  She won a gold medal with Team USA at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea.

Ethridge is a native of Hereford, Texas.  She attended Lubbock Monterey High School, which she led to a state championship in 1981.
