DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - One of the best young bakers in the country resides right here in DFW. 12 year old Jaxon Remillard, of Mansfield, is one of the compeitors on Season 6 of Kids Baking Championship on Food Network.
Jaxon just started taking an interest in baking a few years ago, but quickly discovered he has a talent for it.
"He really started taking more of a keen eye on presentation," said Jaxon's mom, Beth. "He became an addict for different piping tips," she added with a laugh.
Jaxon can bake anything, but he has a real love for cupakes.
"My favorite thing to bake has to be cupcakes because they're really small, but you can make the flavors very extravagant," said Jaxon.
And he tested those flavor skills on the set of the hit TV show.
"It was really cool meeting other kids," said Jaxon. "I made a lot of new friends and got to learn how they decorate and a lot of new baking styles."
Jaxon hopes to open his own storefront bakery in Mansfield one day. But for now, he's doing very well with his business, "Batter Jax Bakery," which he runs out of his home. Just this past weekend he delivered a flowery unicorn birthday cake and a set of his specialty, chocolate cupcakes with espresso buttercream.
Episode 2 airs tonight at 8 P.M. on Food Network.
