DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A man suspected in the road rage beating of a pregnant woman has been arrested on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Fareed Hashim, 35, is in jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
Thursday, police cited Niesha Woods for the incident. Her attorney now says that charge has been dropped.
Woods suffered a broken jaw in two places in the incident, which happened near the Dallas North Tollway and Arapaho August 22. The two had been involved in a near accident on the tollway when things spilled onto the frontage road. Woods said she was confronted by Hashim, who was angry.
"I told him if he touched me he would go to jail. And he laughed at me and told me 'good luck with that.'" Woods said Monday.
The amount of the bond is a sore point with Woods' attorney.
"We have to demand a higher man for this man, for this monster," said Justin Moore, Woods' lawyer. "He is a threat to community safety. He is a community risk. Some who can beat a pregnant woman like that? He is a risk to the safety of all women in Dallas."
Woods is still recovering from surgery, said Moore.
"She's elated. She's just feeling a lot of pain right now."
