DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The family of Botham Jean have unveiled a memorial scholarship now being offered at his alma mater, Harding University in Arkansas.
PwC, whom Jean worked for in Dallas, is assisting with the scholarship fund.
Jean was shot and killed last September in his Dallas apartment.
Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger entered his apartment thinking it was her own, and believing he was an intruder. Guyger has been indicted on a murder charge.
Harding University says after Jean's death, there was a lot of talk on campus about how to honor his memory. Leaders say this scholarship fund will be a lasting legacy.
The scholarship is open to full-time Harding students who show academic promise, leadership, and financial need. Preference will be given to students who are from the Caribbean, like Jean was.
