DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The mother of the man accused of murdering a transgender woman in Dallas says if he's guilty, he needs to admit it.
34-year-old Kendrell Lyles is being held without bond for two murders of transgender women. Police say he is a person of interest in a third and is being investigated for other attacks.
"I hate to see my son in this," said Loretta Lyles, mother of the suspect. "I'm not going to say he did, I'm not going to say he didn't. But I told him to come forward with the truth."
Police claim they had arrested 34-year-old Kendrell Lyles for two previous murders when investigators realized he drove a car similar to the one seen when murder victim Muhlaysia Booker disappeared.
Lyles is being held without bond in the Collin County jail. He called his mother last night.
"I told him if he did it he'd want to plead guilty to it and get this behind him. But he never said once that he did it. But I informed him if he did, want to plead guilty to it. I know him well. If he did it, he's going to confess to it. I'm waiting to hear from him now." said Mrs. Lyles.
No date has been set for a court appearance.
