ROYSE CITY (1080 KRLD) - Neighbors of the two people killed in Royse City Sunday morning are planning a vigil outside Royse City High School Tuesday night.
Royse City ISD says one victim was a current student; the other was a former student.
Royse City police found the two dead in the 3100 block of Overstreet Lane around 3:00 am Sunday when they responded to reports of gunfire. Neighbors say the two lived in different houses on the same street.
Police say detectives are currently working leads, but they have not made any arrests. They had been looking for a third person they say may have been involved, but Monday night, they said they believe the case was an "isolated incident."
Royse City police say they have found nothing to indicate an ongoing threat to students or staff at the high school. The district has had extra counselors at the school for any students or staff who may want someone to talk to.
Tuesday night at 7:15, neighbors will hold a vigil for the two people who died. The vigil will take place near the entrance of the high school.
Organizers say they have been working with Royse City ISD and nearby churches to plan the vigil. They will hand out candles at the vigil, but they say they are expecting a large crowd and are urging people to bring their own.
