TEXAS (1080 KRLD)- Around 1.5 million Americans filed jobless claims for the first time last week.
This marks the tenth week in a row that number has dropped. Mark Hamrick from Bankrate.com says, "It may feel like we are making some progress in terms of the economy beginning to improve. We know that we're still sort of taking our lead from the COVID-19 virus and how that plays out remains a mystery."
In Texas, Hamrick says there were close to 90 million new claims filed for unemployment benefits.
This marked a decline of nearly 17,000 from the previous week.
